Greetings from Pokhara, Nepal !
It’s been a great honor to introduce our organization. Gandaki Association of the Deaf (GAD) is a non-government and non-profit making organization established with a great effort of a handful number of our Deaf friends in 1990 in order to improve the lives of deaf people in Kaski district. This organization has already celebrated the silver jubilee year of its establishment.
Considering our activities and achievements, it arouses a mixed feeling of happiness and sadness. We have become able to establish a community of people who communicate each other using sign language. We have also become successful to educate deaf children at a school purely targeted to deaf and hard of hearing people using sign language. But the achievements are far from what we need.
We still have to accomplish many proposed programmes like producing abundant sign language interpreters around, catering different vocational trainings to deaf adults, creating different job opportunities to them, collecting data, conducting awareness programmes, implementing deaf friendly education at the deaf school and so on have still remain to be achieved.
Anyway, we are constantly trying to get more and more. I hope to get possible help and assistance from all of our well-wishers to help us get our ends. Your tiny support will be a great help for us. Thank you!
